What is a health coach?

We all recognize that millions of people suffer from preventable lifestyle-related diseases in the United States. In fact, over $3 trillion dollars are spent annually on healthcare and we’re still in a growing crisis and what’s worse its affecting our children. One-third of all children today will suffer from type 2 diabetes. Health Coaches want to reverse this. We want to create impactful change and send positive ripple effects across the globe.

Health Coaches empower clients to choose more health-promoting behaviors that work for their individual needs. We help raise awareness and offer support as clients move forward to create and maintain long-term change.

Health Coaches let clients drive the conversation, helping them to make connections between issues and obstacles, determining what is and isn’t working. We support client-led goals and shifts in habit. We provide accountability through our partnership and offer sustainable, holistic wellness strategies that increase overall quality of life.

Similar to life coaches or career coaches, we become partners in our client’s journey - a journey that consists of ongoing practice and assessment. All types of coaches want their clients to reach their full potential by utilizing a growth mindset, identifying patterns and shifting limiting beliefs. The only difference is we have a particular focus on health.

What does a typical coaching process look like?

It can essentially be broken down into three phases:

  • Discovery Phase: Its important to build a strong foundation. Initially I’ll have you answer some questions regarding your current nutrition and lifestyle. We determine what your current needs and wellness goals are to begin planning.

  • Growth Phase: At this point, we’re knee deep in creating change, identifying patterns, making shifts and managing progress.

  • Transformation Phase: We celebrate your success and recognize all the action and growth you’ve made over the last few months. Often times new goals arise, and other areas of your life become a focal point that need attention.

 

What does a health Coach not do?

I do not diagnose or treat symptoms. I do not prescribe diets, medications or programs. It’s important to check with your doctor if you’re considering trying something new.

Are sessions in person?

This will be determined in our consultation together, however most sessions are by phone or ZOOM.

why is 1:1 COACHING A 6-MONTH COMMITMENT?

A 6-month duration allows for significant growth to be made. It can take anywhere from 21 days to almost a year to kick a habit. There is a 3-month check-in to see what progress has been made and then we’re able to see next steps, create new goals if applicable and continue to address what comes up for you along the way, leading to more long-term, sustainable success.
